This past weekend at Hillsboro, the Pacific Indians Girls Wrestling team competed in districts.
Emma Steele, sophomore, went into districts as a first-year wrestler. Emma finished friday night with a 1-1 record. Emma dropped her wrestleback on Saturday and ended her season with a record of 14-13.
Lana Todahl, sophomore, entered districts 17-6. She won her first match at districts with a pin. She won her quarterfinal match against Hillsboro 4-2. She lost her semi-final match against St. Clair by points. Lana lost the bubble match by pin. Lana ended her season 19-8 only three of those losses were by pin. Last year as a freshman Lana ended her season 10-9.
PHS coaching staff is excited about this duo returning next year and believe with hard work in the off season, both wrestlers have the potential to take that next step in 2021 to the state tournament. Additionally the coaching staff is hoping that with the success of these two girls, other girls decide to join the team next season.
